Create a fun, playful, and lighthearted sexual relationship for you and your partner. Couples counseling can help.

Chris Wilhoite LMFT-S is an accomplished sex therapist who has assembled a team of clinicians that provide couples counseling, sex therapy, intimacy coaching, and communication assistance in Littleton and surrounding communities to help couples express their sexuality together in a genuine and authentic manner. Chris and her team help individuals develop loving, secure, and confident relationships. Marriage counseling, couples counseling, and sex therapy can improve and strengthen your relationship.

Providing sex therapy and couples counseling to the Deaf community requires more than solely bringing an ASL interpreter into the therapy room. LaTanya Jones is our nationally ASL-certified signing clinician providing LGBT+ knowledgeable, trauma-focused coaching and counseling. She brings comprehensive experience for sexual health and relationship issues, religion in relationships, and support for problem gambling.

Most clinicians are not effectively trained to work with adult ADHD or autism. Tommy Underhill is our certified adult ADHD and autism specialist. Adults with autism and ADHD often face a different world than others, and adults with ADHD encounter drastically different issues than ADHD children such as infidelity, trust, finances, intimacy, and employment. Tommy’s training in the neurophysiological basis of ADHD and autism allow clients to maximize their abilities and effectiveness.

All individuals have particular goals and needs. Some couples want to create a fun, playful, and lighthearted sexual relationship. Others crave closeness and stability. Every couple is different in how they need to address their sexuality to grow closer. Our clinicians are trained in EFT (Emotionally-Focused Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), Gottman, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Our clinicians are experienced in guiding individuals and couples as they work through a variety of struggles:

Building trust

Trust is like a marble jar: it can take a long time to fill and one action to empty. We help you come together to (re)build trust.

Intimacy & attachment

Intimacy and attachment set the foundation for the relationship. Honesty, sensitivity, and communication foster intimacy.

Body image

Our society fosters an unhealthy view of our bodies— for both men and women. We help you see yourself in a healthy view.

Women’s Sexual trauma

Sexual trauma is a broad term that refers to more than just rape, incest, child sexual molestation, or intimate partner violence. Sexual trauma often gets in the way of fulfilling closeness and intimacy.

Sexuality & Religion

Religion can play a restrictive role in sexual desire and expression. We help you redefine your sexual rules and rewrite your sexual narrative.

Low libido or sex drive

In the early days, it was just you and your partner. Then came the kids and making time for—and with—each other became more difficult. Re-establish your boundaries and provide a framework to protect and nurture your relationship.

Adult ADHD/ADD Relationships

Relationships with partners with Adult ADHD or ADD can have different rules than with neurotypical folks.

Mismatched sexual desire

Mismatched sexual desires can lead to struggles down the road. We foster communication to help bring each of you closer together.

Couples & Technology

Technology, television, Netflix, social media, and video games can intrude into a relationship and partially or completely displace a partner.

Pelvic pain

There can be many causes of pelvic pain. Some can be resolved with pelvic floor PT, others with psychotherapy. We help discover why it hurts.

Orgasm difficulty

Sex is a journey, not a destination. We help you slow down and enjoy the moment. Performance pressure can ruin your connection with your partner.

Erectile issues

When sex becomes an item on the to-do list, it’s time to revisit the foundations of what attracts you to your partner.

Differences in libido

Libido naturally ebbs and flows. Differences in libido can cause frustration or resentment. We offer a safe place to talk about wants and needs.

Polyamory

Poly is more than just wanting to have extra relationship sex. Working with a poly-aware therapist can help navigate the relationships.

Monogamish relationships

Partners have agreed to a mostly exclusive relationship, but with flexible boundaries that allow for connections outside the relationship occasionally.

Kink & BDSM

A kink-aware therapist will help you enjoy the relationship you negotiate without fear of shame.

Erectile dysfunction

ED can originate from many different places. Before you turn to a pill, we discuss the potential causes and solutions.

Life happens to all of us

Major life transitions include the birth of a baby or becoming empty nesters. Grief or loss of a loved one will shake your foundations. Retirement, job changes, or relocations are often stressful at best. It can be difficult to find meaning and purpose in today’s world. Some partners struggle with anxiety or depression.

Littleton Couples Counseling combines a number of therapeutic treatment modalities from an attachment-based perspective to maximize effectiveness. Person-centered therapy and integrated therapy combined with Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman, Experiential Therapy and Partners/Family/Marital Therapy, and Gottman Couples therapy allows us to craft a living, unique solution as individual as you. Trauma may be addressed by EMDR therapy.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) focuses on adult love relationships, communication styles, and attachment and bonding. The therapist and clients look for patterns in the couple’s relationship that are getting in the way of the close intimate relationship the couple desires and take steps to create a more secure bond and deepen the trust in the relationship. EFT focuses on the present time to makes changes in the here and now. There are three stages of EFT.

The first is to de-escalate the couple’s negative cycle of interactions, and help them see and understand the stories that are being played out in their relationship and in their individual minds. Clients come to see that the problems lie in their fears and feelings of distance and loneliness.

The next stage restructures interactions. It is here the therapist helps clients express their fears in the relationship, in a way that doesn’t push the other away. Clients learn to turn toward each other and ask for their needs to be met like they haven’t done before. This allows for the couple to become more open and responsive to each other.

Consolidation is the final stage of EFT. The therapist helps clients see how they get into negative patterns and helps them gain insight about how they can change those patterns. This allows the couple to have more honest, productive, and intimate conversations in the future.
